Arsenal In Crisis: Oxlade-Chamberlain Joins Alexis In Wanting Out

Chelsea have thrown their name in the hat for unhappy Arsenal and England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain according to Sky sources this afternoon.

The Mirror reports that Sanchez is pushing for a move to Manchester City in order to reunite with manager Pep Guardiola, with Bayern Munich refusing to meet his wage demands. The 23-year-old midfielder, who can also play as a winger or a wing-back, is now on vacation and he feels that he needs to move away from Arsenal to get more first-team opportunities.

In case you didn't know.

The 23-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his current contract, and so Arsenal may well have a serious problem on their hands having failed to get him to commit to a long-term deal before this point. The fee was set to rise to £15m after including add-ons.

Despite making 45 appearances for the Gunners last season in all competitions, it appears the Gunners don't see Oxlade-Chamberlain's contract renewal as a priority this summer.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has indicated that he is keen on keeping Oxlade-Chamberlain in his squad.

He was deployed in multiple different roles, ranging from a holding-midfielder to a wide-midfielder, and also as a right wing-back towards the end of the season. Oxlade-Chamberlain came on as a substitute in the World Cup qualifiers against Scotland and made an immediate impact, scoring within two minutes. "We bought him when he was very young and built him up".

The 23-year-old was told that he could expect a quick conclusion regarding his new deal with Arsenal eager to secure their attacker's future.
