Nowitzki, the career scoring leader among worldwide players, will be one of the captains for the NBA's Africa Game on August 5.
It will be one wonderful show for this continent and its residents, and we have several new details connected with this event, which were revealed earlier this day.
In February, the National Basketball Association and NBPA announced that Bismack Biyombo (Orlando Magic, Democratic Republic of the Congo) and Emmanuel Mudiay (Denver Nuggets, Democratic Republic of the Congo) will play for Team Africa, and that CJ McCollum (Portland Trail Blazers, U.S.) will play for Team World. Bismack Biyombo and Emmanuel Mudiay were already announced as players for Team Africa in February. "I also look forward to returning to South Africa after taking part in the Basketball without Borders Africa camp eight years ago", Nowitzki said in a statement released by the league.
The game will benefit UNICEF, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and SOS Children's Villages South Africa (SOSCVSA).
Nowitzki, a 13-time NBA All-Star who helped the Dallas Mavericks win the 2011 NBA crown, and Walker, an NBA All-Star this past season, will serve as co-captains for Team World.
"I can't wait to make my first trip to Africa and join Dirk in leading Team World".
