The storm knocked out telephone service into and out of the city. Ringer also told the AP the storm destroyed 40 homes and severely damaged 50 to 75 others.

The twister packed winds of 120 to 130 miles per hour, or even slightly stronger, when it hit the park, according to the weather service.

The twisters were among up to 29 that were reportedly spawned by powerful storms that raced through a swath of the central US stretching from Texas to the Great Lakes on Tuesday evening, destroying dozens of homes, killing two people and injuring dozens of others. When first responders arrived at the scene, they could hear the people crying for help in the rubble, Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald told KMSP-TV.

Zimmerman says one person suffered minor injuries and that the tiny community of Pawnee Rock is "very fortunate" that the twister struck a largely rural area.

Two people were killed Tuesday, May 16, 2017- one in Wisconsin and another in Oklahoma - following tornadoes and severe storms that ripped through several states.

Fitzgerald says many emergency crews are on hand.

National Weather Service meteorologist Rick Smith says two supercells began in the Texas Panhandle on Tuesday then moved into Oklahoma.

Gavin's longtime friend and neighbor of the mobile home park, Darrin Seever, is speaking out about the kind of man Gavin was. Mikles' pickup was reportedly tossed several hundred feet by the tornado. Cattle have been killed, but Risenhoover said he had no immediate reports of people injured.
