Acting President, Osinbajo Receives Copies of 2017 Appropriation Bill

Here are some of the images at the signing of three executive orders by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday, at the conclusion of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) meeting.

Nigeria's Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed says the National Assembly is yet to transfer the 2017 Appropriation Bill to the Presidency. "It has not been transmitted officially to the Presidency".

However, Akande had stated that Osinbajo will sign the document once he is satisfied with what was transmitted back to the Executive from the National Assembly, The Punch reports.

Akande stressed that the acting president would assent to the budget at the right time once he is satisfied with it.

He added that the Acting President will take the rest and the questions surrounding the budget will answer itself.

"The acting president is in office, and when the budget is transmitted, it will go through the processes and all those other questions will answer itself". He has not sent to us individually, copies of the passed budget.

Asked whether the executive had received the passed 2017 budget, he said: "In respect on the budget, it was only this morning that the Minister of National Planning informed the council that the budget has been passed".

He said this is to allow all Ministers check if there are discrepancies between what they sent to the National Assembly and what was returned. "We have received commitment from the contractor that there will be no further review and that the project will be finished within the next 12 months", he assured.
