Michael DePrisco has wasted no time in compiling the Top 30 Players for the Boston Celtics.

ESPN's Jackie MacMullan said this week on "Bob Ryan's Boston Podcast" that Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge attempted to trade Thomas past year to acquire an additional lottery pick. The Philadelphia 76ers received the first overall pick in the 2016 draft. Two of those picks have already been made, with James Young at No. 17 in the 2014 NBA Draft and Jaylen Brown at No. 3 in last year's draft. Instead, thanks to a new provision in the revamped collective bargaining agreement, the selections on the All-NBA teams have a direct impact on the earning potential of some homegrown talent in free agency. Without anyone picking before them, the Celtics can take anyone they want and not have to be cautious of other teams trying to draft someone before them.

The reason for Markelle Fultz?

If the Celtics don't want to draft, can they go out and trade it?

"He asks questions; I answer them", Thomas told ESPN.

He's not wrong. The six players picked before Thomas never played in the league. It's more than likely you'll see why in the series against the Cavs that the Celtics are one player away, and that player can't be a rookie, no matter how big the name is.

He's easily the most memorable last pick, and he's well-aware of how rare he is. We want to let everybody in this world know that we're for real and that we're one of the top teams in the National Basketball Association. And until they get one, there's no way they can think about getting past LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
