Trump visit seen as long shot to revive Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking

President Donald Trump has decided he will not announce plans to move the USA embassy to Jerusalem during his trip to Israel next week, administration officials told CNN Wednesday. It is hard to see how President Trump would be seen as breaking new ground by simply implementing one part of a law on the books for nearly a quarter of a century.

The low-priced Icelandic airline WOW announced Tuesday it would begin operating flights to Israel from the USA starting September.

Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman, the most senior official in the country to comment on the intelligence leak so far, praised the close ties between the USA and Israel saying Washington would continue contributing to Israel's strong defense. The wall is in the Old City, a part of east Jerusalem, which the USA and most of the world consider to be occupied territory.

"Israel and the Hashemite Kingdom are working together in the understanding that we are destined to live together in this land", the president says. Conflicting comments from administration officials regarding Israel's sovereignty over Jerusalem's Western Wall have only added to the concerns.

"As Christian leaders who collectively speak to over 60 million Americans, we believe the time has come, at long last, to uphold American law by moving the U.S. Embassy to Israel's eternal and indivisible capital city of Jerusalem".

But McMaster did not deny that Trump had discussed highly classified information during a May 10 meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Moscow's US ambassador, Sergey Kislyak.

According to Haaretz, the call did not touch on Trump's disclosure of classified information provided by Israel to the US during Trump's meeting last week with Russian officials.

Meeting Russia's foreign minister and ambassador to Washington in the Oval Office last week, Trump shared intelligence about an Islamic State threat involving laptops carried on airplanes, according to a senior US official who wasn't authorized to talk about the sensitive material and spoke on condition of anonymity.

In its policy paper, ICEJ touted the upcoming Jerusalem day as the flawless time for Trump to move the us embassy.

"So much of what goes on is in Jerusalem and I think we have to see that for what it is", she said. "I prayed for the president and I wish him success, especially in his upcoming trip".

However, Netanyahu's office immediately rejected the claim as false.

"Many Israelis expected the Trump visit would bolster Israel's position on Jerusalem and the peace talks", Stahl continued.

Previous presidents including Bill Clinton and George W. Bush pledged to move the Israel embassy in their campaigns, only to abandon the promise in the face of political reality.

He promised during the campaign to move the embassy. "The statement released by the office included a transcript from Netanyahu's meeting with Trump in Washington, which took place this February, acting as proof that the report provided by Powell was false".
