In an another remark about Rahul Gandhi's image in the party, Delhi Pradesh Mahila Congress's Head Barkha Singh has claimed that party vice-president Rahul Gandhi is "mentally unfit" to lead the Congress.

The Disciplinary Action Committee of the Delhi unit of the Congress met Friday morning to unanimously made a decision to expel Singh from the party for indulging in "anti-party activities" ahead of the elections to the municipal corporations in the capital.

Barkha Singh's departure comes just days after another important local leader, former Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely, left the party to join the BJP with 10 other senior leaders. In a new turn of events, the Congress party has expelled Barkha Singh for six years.

Ms Singh had, on Thursday, announced that she was stepping down as the chief of the women's wing of the Congress' Delhi unit, but inexplicably did not quit the party.

She earlier accused Gandhi of not meeting party leaders and said he was "reluctant" to address "issues" within the organisation.

Her strong words come at a time when the Delhi Congress is grappling with one crisis after another, with civic polls elections scheduled for Sunday.

"Rahul Gandhi is unfit to lead the party", she said. Find us on Facebook too! Singh said, "It is because of this attitude of Rahul and Maken that as many as five district presidents and 75 block presidents resigned from the organisation".

However, on Friday she was expelled from the party, said reports. "The same was brought to the notice of Rahul Gandhi, but our plea fell on deaf ears".

"The one pertinent question we need to ask is why is Rahul Gandhi hiding?"

"Why is he (Rahul) scared of meeting his own party members? Several senior leaders have quit the party because of this very reason - his reluctance to address issues that exist within the organisation". "He is only interested in meeting sycophants". "Ajay Maken, Rahul Gandhi's nominee in the party, misbehaved not only with me but also with several office-bearers of the Delhi Mahila Congress".
