While the USA military has partnered with parts of the Saudi coalition, such as the United Arab Emirates, to go after al-Qaeda, its support for Saudi forces fighting the Houthi rebels has been far more limited.

The official Saudi news agency SPA quoted a statement from the Saudi-led coalition as saying the Black Hawk came down in Marib province, east of the Houthi-controlled capital Sanaa.

The United States and China are working "closely" together over North Korea, US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis said on Tuesday, two days after a new missile test by Pyongyang.

The Saudi-led coalition has been waging a military campaign to dislodge Iran-backed Yemeni Houthi rebels, who seized Yemen's capital Sana'a and other parts of the country in 2014, forcing the country's internationally-recognized government to flee into exile.

Asked Tuesday if the U.S. plans to send any additional aid to Saudi Arabia to turn the tides in the two-year running Yemeni civil war, as U.S. Central Command head Army Gen. Joseph Votel has recommended as a possibility, Mattis wouldn't say.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which play key roles in the coalition, have suffered the alliance's heaviest losses in Yemen, with dozens of soldiers killed.

Saudi Arabia Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources Khalid Al-Falih said that the largest oil exporter wants to produce as much as 10% of its energy from renewable sources by 2023, reported Bloomberg.

He said political solution via UN-brokered negotiations is needed to resolve the conflict in Yemen.

Matviyenko headed a Russian delegation to Saudi Arabia for a three-day visit during which they met with senior officials.

"It has gone on for a long time, and this is something, with the number of innocent people dying inside Yemen, it has simply got to be brought to an end", Mattis told reporters on his way to Riyadh.

Washington alleges that Iran, Saudi Arabia's regional rival, has shipped missiles to Yemen but Tehran denies the charge.

Sisi met Saudi King Salman last month on the sidelines of the Arab League summit in Jordan, breaking the ice after months of tensions between the longtime allies.

Yemen has been since March 26, 2015 under brutal aggression by Saudi-led coalition.

Seven ceasefires alongside peace efforts by the United Nations have so far failed to stop the fighting.

Mukha has been the scene of fierce fighting between Yemeni troops and Saudi mercenaries over the past weeks.
