A young woman in a London street fought off a man who had hurled her to the ground during an attempted rape at 6.30pm one night earlier this month.

The attacker, who was on the bus at the same time, followed her, said police.

But the fearless 22-year-old woman is able to fight the man off, punching him in the stomach and shouting for help after he pulled down his jeans in the sickening attack in Dagenham, east London.

The man can be seen pulling down his pants but his intended victim then punches him in the stomach.

Bus CCTV caught images of the suspect before he disembarked.

The footage shows the suspect fleeing after a auto pulls up along the roadside and the driver calls the police.

The victim got off the EL2 bus on Wood Lane opposite Morrisons supermarket and turned into Becontree Avenue.

Disturbing CCTV footage revealed the suspect running from behind at the 22-year-old victim and throwing her on the pavement in Dagenham, in the city's east, reports the Evening Standard.

"She was able to shout for help and use self-defense to flee from her attacker".

Police described the attacker as a man in his 30s with fair hair and a short brown beard. He wore a grey top with a white shirt underneath and blue jeans.

"We are keen to identify the man in the CCTV footage so we can speak to him about the incident".

No arrests have been made.
