Former Ravens safety Ed Reed was next to Rice during the interview.
The reason why I'm not playing football, you do the dots. You ain't never going to hear me say I gave up. Everyone no matter where I am, they always show a lot of love.
Former Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice hasn't touched the National Football League field since being released from the team in 2013, shortly before the video of him punching his then-fiancee emerged online and sent shock waves through social media.
When asked why he isn't playing in the NFL, Rice said, "I'll make it short and sweet". "It ain't because I'm a bad football player". "I'm never going to give up". That's just keeping it real. Despite the fact that he hasn't played a game in the more than three years since the Baltimore Ravens released him, Rice is confident he can still play. But, I'm never giving up, never giving in.
He is now able to play after his indefinite suspension was overturned.
As each offseason passes, Rice gets further and further from returning to football - especially at a position that is notoriously tough on a player's body.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported last September there was "a growing sense inside the league" Rice could receive an opportunity to play in the NFL again.
