Movie director Spike Lee made that connection in an Instagram post after having brunch with Kaepernick in NY, saying it "Smells MAD Fishy To Me, Stinks To The High Heavens".

Lee wrote on Instagram Sunday that he had brunch with Kaepernick in NY. "Smells MAD Fishy to Me, Stinks To The High Heavens", he wrote. After the season-long protest, the quarterback announced he would stand during the national anthem in the upcoming season. The Jets brought in Josh McCown over the weekend, but the veteran QB left Sunday without a contract.

Kaepernick has already said he won't continue his protests in 2017, yet National Football League teams still don't seem to be willing to take a chance on a player with a track record of success.

A few years ago, there was a time when Colin Kaepernick was considered one of the league's most unsafe quarterbacks thanks to his ability to be effective with his legs. NY badly needs a QB and the former Niners star is familiar with offensive coordinator John Morton, having worked together in the past.

Colin Kaepernick is still a free agent, which is somewhat of a surprise to San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch. With quarterback Blake Bortles struggling and in need of a talented backup, many analysts say that he would be a good fit for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Still, assuming he wants to keep playing, this offseason could get even more frustrating for him.

Many NFL owners tilt towards being conservative by nature. He also had an additional 2,300 rushing yards, 13 touchdowns on the ground, and 40 fumbles during his time with the 49ers.

Unfortunately for Kaepernick, everything has seemed to go downhill from a football perspective since the 49ers made an appearance in that NFC Championship game due to injuries and the organization in general seeming like a mess. With the Cleveland Browns still trying to deal away Brock Osweiler, it's also possible that the next round of Colin Kaepernick rumors will include him meeting with the team in Ohio.
