According to Punch, the yet-to-be identified man stopped his driver on the bridge, saying he needed to check something on the body of the Nissan Xterra they were driving.
A witness told PREMIUM TIMES that the incident happened at about 4:50 p.m. around Adekunle axis of the Third Mainland bridge.
The deceased, who was said to be returning from church, had taken back the auto keys from the driver at Adeniji Adele, drove a few metres and then parked before jumping into the lagoon.
Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA and the police are now at the scene to retrieve the body of the victim.
Spokesman of LASEMA, Kehinde Adebayo, said the agency was alerted by concerned Nigerians.
A man identified simply as Orji had on Sunday evening jumped into the Lagos Lagoon after being driven to the Third Mainland bridge by his driver.
Investigations by Nigerian Tribune, however, revealed that the man was driving a auto owned by a woman, when he stopped and jumped into the lagoon.
"The body is yet to be recovered as the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and other stakeholders are still on ground", he said.
On interrogation, the woman said she trekked from Medina Estate in Gbagada to Third Mainland.
Our reporter who visited the home of the victim today said that mother of the victim was flanked by sympathizers, who constantly consoled her. "However, when she jumped, we called for help, prompting people under the bridge to dive in and rescue her".
