Atlus USA has finally addressed the issue with Amazon cancelling some preorders for its "Persona 5" Take Your Heart Premium Edition and SteelBook Edition.
However, not all versions of the game were affected by the cancellations, as only the Steelbook and Take Your Heart special editions were cancelled by Amazon. According to the developer "No "mass cancellations" of the premium and SteelBook editions have occurred". As per the email sent out to those affected, the said cancellation of their orders was due to the item containing regulated materials being classified as unsafe goods, PlayStationLifeStyle reported. "Although the amount of these substances in these products is usually quite limited, these products need to be transported in a certain way to ensure that they are handled with care".
Though the NeoGAF post claims Amazon is "mass cancelling" orders of Persona 5, it's worth noting many people in the thread have stated they haven't had any problems. It can be seen below.
One of the customers who preordered a Persona 5 special edition was apparently told by an Amazon representative that the cancellations were only a mistake, and that he was requested to send in another preorder, with shipping costs to be dropped. The "Take Your Heart" edition comes with the game, SteelBook collectible case, soundtrack CD, a four-inch Morgana plush, 64-page hardcover art book, school bag and collectible outer box.
Persona 5 is set for release on April 5, nearly seven months after the game debuted in Japan. Atlus ended its statement by telling customers to contact the support team of the retailer if their order has been canceled. We will update the story if more information becomes available.
